Helen Whelan has both large media company (CNN/TW) and startup experience. She created two media startups from scratch. One is Success Television, a leadership development video e-learning company in NYC. The other was venture backed and targeted the large niche audience of Baby Boomers through video streaming. It also produced two PBS TV series on entrepreneurship and leadership featuring luminaries such as Richard Branson, Jack Welch and Intel’s Andy Grove.
Prior to launching startups, she conceived of, launched and helped run a TV network/website, now called CNNMoney. This was the first news website to reach profitability, in large part through technology and branded content business development deals she created.
She has 20 years experience executing business deals focused on creating new revenue lines for video-centric businesses, TV and online video programming, creative advertising integration, content distribution and strategic technology partnerships.
Her focus and passion is in assisting start-ups and established media companies that want to grow their business through smart partnerships at the intersection of video, online media and technology.
Helen mentors entrepreneurs through NYU’s Stern School of Business and media accelerator Matter.vc. She received her MBA from the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola and her BS in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Florida. LinkedIn bio.
